Blue Light Filtering Technology

Visible light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and is measured in nanometres (nm). The visible light spectrum contains all the colours of the rainbow. Each colour is a different wavelength, ranging from about 400 nm (blue light) to 700 nm (red light). Blue light has the shortest wavelengths and the highest energy, while red light has the longest wavelengths and the least energy. The blue light spectrum falls between 400-495 nm.

The Visible light spectrum, known as the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum, contains all colours of the rainbow

Blue light can come from two sources: 1) natural blue light from sunlight and 2) artificial blue light from digital devices (computer screens, phones, TVs, etc.) and modern lighting (fluorescents, LEDs, etc.).

Natural vs. Artificial

Artificial light lacks the balanced full-spectrum light that we get from sunlight. Also, the light spectrum from sunlight varies throughout the day, with more low-energy red light during sunrise and sunset. The high-energy blue light that we get from the sun is important during the day, as it is energising, but in the evening your hormones need to prepare you for sleep.

With artificial blue light your hormones get disrupted, which often leads to poor sleep and other health problems.

Filter Optix blue light filtering technology can help you improve your sleep and health in a digital world with modern lights.

Filter Optix lab-tested blue light blocking glasses filter out harmful artificial blue light to improve your sleep and health

Lab-Tested Technology

Our lenses have been developed and designed to filter out the disruptive artificial blue light wavelengths while effectively transmitting the desirable healthy light. This better simulates the natural light variation from the sun which ultimately improves your circadian rhythm and overall health.

The 4 different blue light blocking lenses have been uniquely developed for specific applications and settings for the most effective performance. All the 4 lenses have a complex and high-performing multilayer coating to increase the light transmission performance, as well as giving the lenses leading-edge properties.
